Invisalign® in Salem, MA

If you have a few misalignments in your smile that are keeping you from obtaining the beautiful smile you’ve always wanted, you may be considering orthodontic treatment from an orthodontist in Salem. Mass Bay Dental is proud to offer a range of these treatments to produce attractive smiles in Salem, MA. One fairly recent development that is effective and comfortable is the Invisalign® system of aligners.

What is Invisalign?

The Invisalign system works in the same fashion as traditional metal braces to straighten teeth. Gentle and constant pressure is applied to the teeth in a specific way to gradually move them to a new position along the gumline. Unlike traditional braces, however, which consist of metal brackets and wires being attached to the teeth, Invisalign is a system of custom-fit clear aligners.

Benefits of Invisalign

Why is Invisalign in Salem, MA a good choice for you? It works just as well as traditional braces (and can even have a shorter treatment time) but is much more comfortable. The aligners are removable, which makes both eating and cleaning the teeth much easier than when braces are on the teeth. Additionally, they are nearly invisible when being worn. Patients who use traditional braces can often feel self-conscious about their orthodontic treatment because it is conspicuous and cumbersome. With Invisalign aligners, the treatment is hardly noticeable.

Procedure

Your Invisalign treatment will begin with a consultation with our dentist in Salem, MA at Mass Bay Dental, who is trained and experienced in the system. Measurements will be taken of your teeth and mouth in order to create a treatment plan. Your dentist will map out the movement of the teeth and may even be able to provide you with a preview of the final results. The treatment plan will be given to a dental laboratory, which will create the custom aligners.

Treatment will consist of wearing the aligners in a specific order (according to the treatment plan) for the majority of the day. It’s recommended that the aligners only be taken out to eat and to clean. It is important to keep both the teeth and the aligners clean during treatment – because they fit very closely against the teeth, any remaining food debris either on the aligner or the teeth could result in cavities or staining. The average treatment time is about 12 months.
